Parra looks to stay hot as Brewers host Blue Jays
Jun 17, 2008 - 2:02 PM Toronto (35-36) at Milwaukee (36-33) 8:05 p.m. EDTMILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Manny Parra goes for his fourth straight win when the Milwaukee Brewers open a three-game interleague set with the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday.
The Brewers avoided a three-game sweep with a 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday and will look to their lefthander to continue his recent success.
Parra (5-2, 4.66 ERA) has not lost since May 3. The lefthander struggled, despite the victory, in his last start, allowing five runs in 5 1/3 innings during Milwaukee's 10-6 win over Houston last Wednesday.
The 25-year-old is also strong at home, going 3-0 with a 2.90 ERA in seven starts at Miller Park.
Toronto dropped two out of three over the weekend to the Chicago Cubs and have lost 10 of 14 overall.
Dustin McGowan (5-4, 3.92) will look to build on his best start of the season when he takes the mound for the Blue Jays.
The righthander threw his third career complete game, allowing one run and five hits with seven strikeouts in Toronto's 3-1 victory over Seattle on June 10.
McGowan has struggled on the road this season, going 1-3 with a 6.02 ERA in eight starts. He has never faced the Brewers in his career.
