Francis hoping to improve home record vs. Indians

Jun 18, 2008 - 2:00 PM Cleveland (33-38) at Colorado (29-42) 9:05 p.m. EDT

DENVER (Ticker) -- Jeff Francis hopes the Colorado Rockies can continue their sudden resurgence against the Cleveland Indians when the teams continue a three-game interleague series on Wednesday.

The Rockies pounded out a season-high 17 hits en route to a 10-2 victory over the Indians during the series opener on Tuesday, snapping a two-game losing streak at home while earning their first win against Cleveland in six meetings.

The win also helped Colorado improve to 9-4 since dropping a season-high eight straight games from May 26 to June 2.

Francis (2-6, 5.49 ERA) will need a similar offensive outburst from his teammates on Wednesday if he hopes to improve his dismal home record. The 27-year-old lefthander is just 1-4 with a 5.79 ERA in seven starts at Coors Field this season and has lost each of his last two outings here.

Aaron Laffey (4-3, 2.83) counters for the Indians after a pair of stellar outings. Laffey, 23, has allowed just three runs and 11 hits over his last 12 2/3 innings, earning a 1-0 record over that span.
