D-Backs' Webb seeks to regain Cy Young form vs. Twins

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Brandon Webb has resembled anything but a Cy Young Award winner lately.

Webb aims to bounce back from his worst start in over three years and help the Arizona Diamondbacks salvage the finale of a three-game interleague series with the Minnesota Twins on Sunday.

The 2006 National League Cy Young Award winner, Webb was reached for seven runs and nine hits in 3 1/3 innings of a 15-1 loss to Oakland on Tuesday. It was the righthander's shortest outing since throwing two frames vs. St. Louis in 2004.

Webb (11-3, 3.27 ERA) started the season by winning his first nine starts, but has gone 2-3 since. Despite his struggles, Webb is seeking his major league-best 12th win.

Minnesota claimed its fifth straight win, 6-1, on Saturday as Brian Buscher's two-run double highlighted a six-run seventh. The Twins, who have outscored their opponents, 35-9, during their winning streak, send former Diamondback Livan Hernandez to the mound.

Hernandez (7-4, 5.51) went 15-16 with a 4.64 ERA the past two seasons with Arizona before leaving as a free agent this offseason. The rubber-armed righthander went 0-3 with a 9.38 ERA in his previous six starts before allowing just one run and five hits in seven innings of a 2-1 victory over Washington on Tuesday.
