Zito hopes new mechanics will halt Indians

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Barry Zito looks for a fresh start when the San Francisco Giants visit the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday.

Zito (2-11, 6.32 ERA) will take the mound for the Giants, attempting to incorporate his newly-developed wind-up, which features a lower arm angle to enhance velocity.

Though the former Cy Young Award winner is struggling this season, he is 5-3 with a 2.71 ERA in nine career starts against the Indians.

Cleveland counters with Jeremy Sowers (0-2, 6.57). The lefthander, who already has had two stints in the minors, has worked six innings just once in five starts.

Omar Vizquel dropped down a suicide-squeeze bunt to drive in a run in the ninth inning, helping the Giants earn a 3-2 win over the Indians on Tuesday.

It marked the Giants' first visit to Cleveland since the 1954 World Series.
