Dye looks to stay hot vs. Dodgers
Jun 25, 2008 - 1:55 PM Chi White Sox (42-34) at LA Dodgers 10:10 pm EDTLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Jermaine Dye's hot hitting helped the Chicago White Sox snap a long losing streak on the road.
Dye and the White Sox try to win back-to-back road games for the first time since May 28-29 when they continue a three-game interleague series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.
After being named American League Player of the Week on Monday, Dye began his claim for another weekly award in Tuesday's the series opener, hitting a crucial two-run homer in the eighth inning to help Chicago snap a nine-game road slide with a 6-1 victory.
The homer was Dye's fifth in as many games and sixth in his last seven contests. The 34-year-old right fielder is hitting .392 (11-for-28) with 15 RBI over his last eight games.
Gavin Floyd (8-3, 3.19 ERA) goes for his fifth straight win in as many decisions when he takes the mound for the White Sox.
Floyd earned a win during his last start despite allowing seven runs, but just one earned. The 25-year-old righthander also surrendered six hits and two walks while striking out six in 5 2/3 innings as the White Sox posted a 13-8 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Eric Stults (1-0, 1.50) counters for the Dodgers after the 28-year-old lefthander was recalled from Class AAA Las Vegas on Tuesday to replace Brad Penny in the rotation after the staff ace was placed on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation and tendinitis in his right shoulder.
