Blue Jays will try to solve Reds' Volquez

Jun 26, 2008 - 1:10 PM TORONTO (Ticker) -- On Tuesday, the new-look Toronto Blue Jays' offense tacked 14 runs on the Cincinnati Reds.

The club will need some more of that luck at the plate against the major league's ERA leader when it takes on the Reds in the rubber game of the three-game set on Thursday.

Edinson Volquez (10-2, 1.71 ERA), who is making a bid to earn the first half's National League's pitching triple crown, takes the mound for Cincinnati with a 1-0 record with a 3.21 during interleague play this season.

The Blue Jays, who are 6-15 this month, will counter with Jesse Litsch (7-4, 4.06). The 23-year-old has surrendered 11 earned runs in his last 12 1/3 innings, spanning over two starts. He has also allowed 33 hits in his last five outings.

Cincinnati slugger Adam Dunn enters the game 8-for-his-last-64. He went 1-for-5 in Wednesday's 6-5 win as the Reds tagged five runs and nine hits on Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay.

Jay Bruce drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning and Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 602nd career home run for Cincinnati.
