Mariners draw meet struggling Padres for three-game set
Jun 27, 2008 - 2:48 PM SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- The Seattle Mariners look to keep the San Diego Padres reeling on Friday when the clubs open a three-game interleague series.The Padres have lost nine of their last 10 games, including five in a row. In those nine losses, they are averaging just three runs per game, while allowing 53 runs in the same span.
Seattle, which owns the worst record in the majors, will send Jarrod Washburn (2-7, 5.52 ERA) to the mound.
San Diego will turn to Randy Wolf (5-6, 4.09), who has thrown six or more innings in nine of his past 11 starts and has a 2.98 ERA in those outings.
Padres slugger Adrian Gonzalez leads the National League with 66 RBI and is second in the majors behind the Texas Rangers' Josh Hamilton (76).
