Twins target 11th straight triumph
Jun 28, 2008 - 12:51 PM Milwaukee (43-36) at Minnesota (44-36) 7:10 pm EDTMINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Livan Hernandez took the mound when the Minnesota Twins began their longest winning streak in two years. He hopes not to be one responsible for seeing it come to an end.
Hernandez attempts to help the Twins to their 11th straight win on Saturday as they continue a three-game set with the Milwaukee Brewers.
When Hernandez (8-4, 5.23 ERA) got the start on June 17, he snapped a personal three-game losing streak when he allowed a run over seven frames in a 2-1 victory over Washington. The win was also notable for Minnesota, which was just 2-8 over its last 10 games before the triumph.
Since then, the Twins have reeled off 10 straight victories - all against National League competition - with Hernandez collecting wins in both of his starts during the run. The righthander allowed three runs - one earned - and nine hits over seven innings in Sunday's 5-3 victory over Arizona.
The winning streak has helped Minnesota roll to a 13-3 record in interleague play, tied with Kansas City for the best record in the majors.
Milwaukee will turn to Manny Parra (7-2, 4.29) to end the streak when he attempts to win his sixth straight start. The lefthander overcame a career-high six walks in Sunday's 7-3 win over Baltimore, allowing three runs and five hits over five frames.
