Twins face Braun, Brewers in rubber match
Jun 29, 2008 - 1:13 PM Milwaukee (44-36) at Minnesota (44-37), 2:10 pm EDTMINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Twins look to start a new winning streak when they host Ryan Braun and the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday in the finale of a three-game interleague series.
Braun drove in a run Saturday, helping the Brewers end the Twins' season-long 10-game winning streak with a 5-1 victory. The reigning National League Rookie of the Year, Braun is batting .290 with a team-leading 20 home runs and 58 RBI this season.
Minnesota has a tough task in front of them as it faces Milwaukee ace Ben Sheets (9-1, 2.59 ERA), who is looking to win his sixth consecutive decision. The righthander is coming off a complete game in Monday's 4-1 triumph over the Atlanta Braves, allowing a run and four hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.
The Twins will counter with righthander Kevin Slowey (4-6, 3.96), who tossed six scoreless innings but did not receive a decision in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the San Diego Padres. He gave up four hits and struck out seven.
Right fielder Michael Cuddyer was out of Minnesota's lineup on Saturday with an inflamed tendon in his left index finger.
