New-look Brewers host opener against Rockies

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Colorado Rockies will have the first chance to solve the new-look Milwaukee Brewers, as they begin a four-game series on Monday against the apparent winners of the C.C. Sabathia sweepstakes.

The Brewers reportedly acquired the lefthander from the Cleveland Indians on Sunday in exchange for highly-touted prospect Matt LaPorta and two other minor leaguers, ending a long debate in regard to where the former All-Star hurler would end up in the trading market.

Despite allowing two runs or less in five of the past six outings, starter Seth McClung (5-3, 4.18) may be pitching for job security as a member of the drastically-improved Brewers' rotation.

The 27-year-old righthander has won three of his last four decisions and has the task of slowing the hot Colorado lineup.

The Rockies are coming off a four-game series in which they and the Florida Marlins combined to score 79 runs.

Matt Holliday, who was named to the National League All-Star roster, was 7-for-15 with three homers and nine RBI in the set against the Marlins.

Ubaldo Jimenez (3-8, 4.50) takes the mound for Colorado hoping to build on his past five starts, where he is sporting a 2.37 ERA.

J.J. Hardy, who saw his 16-game hitting streak come to an end on Saturday, was 3-for-4 with two homers and four RBI on Sunday to raise his average to .446 over the last 18 games for the Brewers.
