McLouth looks to power Pirates to sweep of Astros

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- All-Star Nate McLouth and the Pittsburgh Pirates seek a three-game series sweep of the Houston Astros on Wednesday when they host their National League Central foes.

McLouth homered for the second time in as many games and added a two-run single in the eighth inning to lift the Pirates to a 4-3 triumph over the Astros on Tuesday in a game which featured a pair of rain delays lasting a total of 3 hours and 6 minutes.

Adam LaRoche added a solo blast in the eighth for Pittsburgh, which recorded its second consecutive victory in a game that finished just over six hours after it started.

Pirates' John Van Benschoten (1-2, 10.64 ERA) will make his third start of the season. The righthander was tagged for five runs and five hits over 2 1/3 innings during last Wednesday's 9-5 triumph over the Cincinnati Reds.

Houston, which has lost three straight games and seven of its previous eight contests, will send Brian Moehler (4-4, 4.13) to the mound.

Moehler surrendered five runs on six hits and three walks over six frames in Friday's 6-2 setback to the Atlanta Braves.
