Top MLB No Runs First Inning (NRFI) Picks & Odds for Wednesday, June 22nd (2022)

Jun 22, 2022 - 2:33 PM

It’s a jam-packed day in Major League Baseball with 30 teams in action starting at 2:10 PM EST when the Mets/Astros and Blue Jays/White Sox kick off the action. With no shortage of ways to get in on the action, let’s take a closer look at the No Runs First Inning (NRFI) market and see where the value remains.

Philadephia Phillies vs. Texas Rangers

Since opening closer to -118, we’ve seen this NRFI get juiced all the way up to -136 as we chase the steam in an interleague matchup that should be one of the best of the day. Two righties are on the mound as Zack Wheeler takes on Jon Gray, both of whom have ERAs under 3.00 in their last three starts, giving up a combined two runs in their last two starts.

In what will be the second game of the series, the Phillies were blanked last night, their second straight loss, as the bats have gone cold. Even before this recent downturn, the Phillies had struggled to score early, currently, #22 in the league with just .48 runs averaged in the first inning.

The Rangers haven’t faired much better, currently, #17 in the league with .51 runs in the first inning, ranking even worse at home. While some runs might come late in a series begging for them, I like NRFI here and am happy to lay the correctly priced juice.

Bet: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Texas Rangers NRFI (-136 via FanDuel)

Colorado Rockies vs. Miami Marlins

This number has also slightly moved since opening around -130, but I’m even happier to lay the juice in Miami. Coming into this game, the Marlins rank second to last in the league in first-inning runs at just .33. Over their past three games, the Marlins have scored zero in the first inning, as their offense has continued to sputter early which has in part led to their loss of four of their past six.

As for the Rockies, their hitting away from Coors Field has been abysmal, especially early in games, as they enter this game scoring just .33 in the first inning while on the road, amongst the worst in the league.

While runs might come late like they did last night in the Marlins’ 9-8 win, I like for another slow start from both teams as Chad Kuhl and Pablo Lopez duke it out in Miami.

Bet: Colorado Rockies vs. Miami Marlins NRFI (-138 via FanDuel)
