Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Washington Nationals ML

The Washington Nationals are not often home favorites, but when they are, they win more often than not. The Nationals are 6-3 as home favorites this season despite owning the worst overall home winning percentage in the National League. And while Patrick Corbin’s 3-10 record and 6.60 ERA will be enough to scare bettors off, the Nationals have played .500 baseball in Corbin’s last six starts after losing each of his first nine.

Pittsburgh is just 8-17 in June, while Washington is looking to build off the momentum of a road series win over Texas and a series split against Baltimore. Corbin has held the Pirates to a .121 ISO, .262 BABIP, and has a 22.6% strikeout percentage in his career against the Pirates, and we expect him to build more momentum in this start.

Bet: Washington Nationals ML (-120 at DraftKings)

San Diego Padres vs. Arizona Diamondbacks O/U

The pitching matchup in this game is a rematch from one week ago when the Padres beat the Diamondbacks 3-2 in 11 innings. Both Sean Manaea (3-3, 3.87) and Zac Gallen (4-2, 2.92) were brilliant in that game, combining to allow three earned runs on eight hits in 12 innings. One school of thought is that the advantage goes to the hitters when seeing a starting pitcher twice in one week. However, Gallen especially looked unhittable, as he recorded 11 of 18 outs via strikeout, and it should not matter that the Padres are seeing him so frequently. In addition, the Padres have averaged less than four runs per game since Manny Machado has been out with a sprained ankle and rank 25th with an 87 wRC+ in that span.

Bet: Padres-Diamondbacks UNDER 7.5 Runs (-105 at DraftKings)

Detroit Tigers vs. San Francisco Giants RL

Some bettors may ask themselves what business a Giants team that has lost four of five games and six of eight have being such big favorites over the Tigers, especially after dropping two of three to the Reds. The simple answer is that they have Carlos Rodon (6-4, 2.70) on the mound, and the lefty has been on fire. Rodon has allowed just one earned run in his last 21 innings, though he has two of the National League’s best lineups, the Braves and the Dodgers, in that span.

The other reason is the sharp decline of Tigers starter Tarik Skubal (5-5, 3.63), whose earned runs allowed increased in each of his last four starts. The Giants are also 14-7 against left-handed starting pitchers, and they are one of five teams in baseball that is seven games over .500 against southpaws.

Bet: San Francisco Giants -1.5 Runs (+115 at DraftKings)
