Perkins, Twins host Rangers

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Glen Perkins looks to continue his recent string of strong outings when he takes the mound for the Minnesota Twins against the Texas Rangers on Friday.

Perkins (6-2, 4.14 ERA) has won two straight and four of his last five starts. He has allowed three runs or less in each of his last seven outings.

The lefthander gave up two runs over 6 2/3 innings against Detroit on July 11, earning the victory in Minnesota's 3-2 triumph.

Perkins will have to be on his game against the Rangers, who lead the majors with 538 runs. Texas scored 26 runs while taking two out of three against the Chicago White Sox before the break.

Kevin Millwood (6-5, 5.11) will take the mound for Texas. The 33-year-old has not gone more than 5 1/3 innings in each of his past four starts.

The righthander was knocked around for five runs and 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings in his last start, taking the loss in a 9-7 defeat to the White Sox on Saturday.

The Twins have won five straight at home.
