Baker, Twins look to complete series sweep of Rangers

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Scott Baker hopes to become the third pitcher to stymie the heavy-hitting Texas Rangers when the Minnesota Twins look to complete a three-game series sweep Sunday.

The 26-year-old Baker (6-2, 3.47 ERA) has pitched at least six innings in seven consecutive starts and hasn't lost since June 15.

Baker faced Texas on April 26 and allowed five runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings, but didn't factor in the decision since Minnesota came back to win, 12-6.

Justin Morneau drove in a season-high tying five runs on Saturday while the Twins set season highs in home runs and runs scored in a 14-2 romp.

Morneau, Joe Mauer, Delmon Young and Brian Buscher all homered for the Twins while Livan Hernandez - Minnesota's lone starter over the age of 26 - improved to 8-1 in 12 home starts this season.

On Friday, Glen Perkins - another impressive youngster in the Twins' rotation - tossed six innings en route to a 6-0 win.

The Rangers will send Vicente Padilla (10-5, 4.70) to the mound for his first outing since being placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained neck muscle on July 9.
