Top 5 MLB Player Props for Monday, July 25 (2022)

Jul 25, 2022 - 2:30 PM

Aces are certainly not wild this Monday night. However, mixed in with all the questionable arms are a few veterans that are in great spots. So let’s not waste any more time and see just how we’re backing or fading the men on the mound tonight.

Sean Manaea Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+104)
San Diego vs. Detroit 7:10 pm ET

Manaea is in an excellent spot as he takes the ball for the first time in the second half. The lefty will be up against the Detroit Tigers, who have been one of the worst lineups in the league. A big part of thier struggles stems from the number of times they strike out. Detroit enters this game with the sixth highest strikeout rate in the majors. As for Manaea, he should be sharp with all the extra rest. He’s gone over this total in 52.9 percent of his starts, which gives him implied odds of -112 to go over again. That is an excellent value when considering the plus money odds and the matchup.

Nick Pivetta Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+114)
Cleveland vs. Boston 7:10 pm ET

This pick is a bit contrarian when you consider that Cleveland has the lowest strikeout rate in the majors. However, this line is a bit too low for a pitcher like Pivetta. He’s gone over this total in 57.9 percent of his starts, which gives him implied odds of -137 to go over here. This line is likely based on Pivetta’s four-strikeout performance that he had against the Guardians in June. In that outing, he went seven strong innings and only allowed two runs. If he can repeat that performance, he should go over this time around.

Zack Greinke Over 3.5 Strikeouts (-170)
LA Angels vs Kansas City Royals 8:10 pm ET

This prop is unlike the others, as Greinke has failed to go over this total in 60 percent of his outing this season. However, the matchup is too good to pass up as the Angels have the highest strikeout rate in the league. On top of that, They are without Mike Trout in the two-hole, which moves Taylor Ward and Jared Walsh up in the lineup. They each have strikeout rates over 24 percent on the season. So while Greinke may not go deep into this outing, he could go over this total the first time through the order.

Adam Oller Under 14.5 Pitching Outs (+120)
Houston vs. Oakland 9:40 pm ET

Let’s be honest: Adam Oller is not a big league pitcher. He has gotten walloped in every start he’s made this season, and now he gets to face the Astros’ deadly lineup for the second time in a week. He’s only gone five innings in two of his ten appearances this season and was in the bullpen for the entire month of June. Seeing a lineup this good back-to-back is bad news for any starter, but it points to a very short outing for Oller tonight.

Pablo Espino Over 5.5 Hits Allowed (+105)
Washington vs. LA Dodgers 10:10 pm ET

Espino recently transitioned to the starting rotation in mid-June for the Nationals and started off strong. However, his last four starts have not gone so well. He’s surrendered six hits in four of his previous five starts, and now he gets to go on the road against a red-hot Dodgers lineup. Espino may not last long, but the Dodgers have the potential to hit this over in three innings. This may be one of the sneakiest ways to back LA tonight at plus money.
