MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks for Wednesday, July 27 (2022)

Yesterday was full of insane upsets on the West Coast. Therefore, none of our bets won. Let’s look to get back on track with today’s baseball action. There are plenty of early games on the slate and a few night games to consider playing as well.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Kansas City Royals

• Leg 1: Whit Merrifield 2+ Total Bases (-110)
• Leg 2: MJ Melendez 2+ Total Bases (+105)
• Leg 3: Andrew Benintendi 1+ Hit (-290)

Tonight, Janson Junk will make his first start of the 2022 season for the Los Angeles Angels. Last year’s stats weren’t very promising for the young starter.

Junk had a 4.39 xFIP last season while allowing 47.7% of hard contact when balls were batted into play. He also allowed 25% of line drives when balls were batted into play and rarely induced ground balls. He could keep walks down last season, which is good for us.

If he limits walks, we’ll be able to earn some total bases and hits in this game from the Royals. In the last 30 days, the Royals have had some good numbers against righties.

Whit Merrifield has a .224 ISO and wOBA of .347 against righties in his last 52 plate appearances against them. Meanwhile, M.J. Melendez has hit a .250 ISO with a wOBA of .342 against righties in his previous 61 plate appearances against them. Lastly, Andrew Benintendi only has a .038 ISO but has a .408 wOBA against righties with a low strikeout rate.

Stack the Royals against Junk! Hopefully, he’s junk today!

Houston Astros vs. Oakland Athletics

• Leg 1: Christian Javier Over 7.5 K’s (+120)
• Leg 2: Jose Altuve 2+ Total Bases (+110)
• Leg 3: Yordan Alvarez 2+ Total Bases (-105)

Christian Javier will look to get the Astros back on track today. He has a 3.95 xFIP in the last 30 days and has struck out over 40% of batters in that time frame.

He’ll take on a projected lineup that has struck out 24.9% of the time in the last 30 days. In the Athletics’ lineup, six batters are striking out over 20% of the time against righties.

Javier should dominate this Athletics team.

On the other hand, we’ve got Cole Irvin on the hill for the Athletics. Irvin is a lefty with a 4.90 xFIP in the last 30 days, and he’s giving up 45.9% of hard contact in that time frame and will take on big heavy bats like Jose Altuve and Yordan Alvarez in the Astros’ lineup.

Altuve has a .516 ISO and wOBA of .577 against lefties in his last 36 plate appearances, while Alvarez has a .526 ISO and wOBA of .407 in his previous 24 plate appearances.

All three players in the parlay have bold matchups in today’s game.

Miami Marlins vs. Cincinnati Reds

• Leg 1: Braxton Garrett Over 4.5 K’s (-122)
• Leg 2: Luis Castillo Over 6.5 K’s (+120)
• Leg 3: Brandon Drury 1+ Hit (-240)

Tonight’s pitching matchup between Braxton Garrett and Luis Castillo should be a good one. Garrett has had a 3.50 xFIP with the Marlins in the last 30 days. He’s struck out 27% of batters in that time frame and will take on a Reds lineup that has struck out 23.9% of the time against lefties in the last 30 days.

On the other hand, Castillo has a 3.31 xFIP in the last 30 days and has struck out 30.8% of batters in that time frame. Miami has struck out over 19% of the time with their projected lineup and will likely struggle a bit more against Castillo in this game.

We’re not going to get much offense in this game. If you want to take the under with these two strikeout props, that’s fine. I’ll take my chances with Brandon Drury at -240 to get a hit. He has a .333 ISO and wOBA of .436 against lefties in his last 26 plate appearances.

If Garrett makes one mistake to Drury, he’ll have to pay for it.
