Top 4 MLB Player Props for Thursday, August 11 (2022)

Aug 11, 2022 - 3:11 PM

Here are four of our favorite MLB player props for Thursday’s slate.

Framber Valdez: To Record a Win

Framber Valdez has been as consistent as any pitcher in the MLB this year. In his 21 starts this season, he has gone at least six innings except for two starts, and of those 21 starts, he has only given up more than three earned runs once. That is remarkable.

The Astros get to face lefty Cole Ragans. Ragans made his MLB debut earlier this month, going against the Chicago Whitesox. He went five innings and gave up three hits and one run, with three strikeouts. Not bad for his very first start.

Unfortunately for Ragans, he has to face a Houston Astros team who mashes left-handed pitchers. Houston ranks 3rd in ISO (.192), 8th in SLG% (.434), 6th in wRC+ (115), 11th in wOBA (.325), and has the lowest K% (18.2%) against lefties this season.

The Pick: Yes (-115 DraftKings)

Nick Lodolo: o/u 17.5 Outs

This number seems a little high for Nick Lodolo. He would have to pitch a full six innings to hit the over. This season Lodolo has only averaged 4.6 IP per start. In his nine starts, Nick has only completed six innings twice. Pitching in the Field of Dreams game tonight may have him a little amped up and be wild early, which will not bode well for Nick as he already allows 2.22 walks per game.

The Pick: u17.5 Outs (-125 DraftKings)

C.J. Cron: o/u 0.5 RBI & o/u 0.5 HR

Cron’s splits are playing to his favor in today’s matchup vs. the Cardinals. Like most Rockies players, Cron has had better success at the plate while playing at home. 17 of his 23 home runs and 60 of his 80 RBIs have come at Coors Field.

Not only is Cron playing at home, but he gets to feast off another right-handed pitcher. Cron’s ISO jumps from .214 against LHP to .247 against RHP. His wRC+ jumps from 80 to 137 against RHP. I expect a big game from C.J. Cron today.

The Picks: o0.5 RBI (-110 DraftKings) & o0.5 HR (+340 DraftKings)

Dylan Cease: To Record a Win

Dylan Cease is one of the games best. He is 12-4 with a 1.98 ERA and 166 strikeouts. Dylan gets even better on the road. Away from Chicago, Cease is 7-1, and his ERA drops to 1.33. That is incredible. Opponents are hitting a measly .198 off Cease in 2022.

If the White Sox can score a few runs off Greinke early, Dylan should cruise to his 13th win, and the odds sitting at -110 is fantastic value.

The Pick: Yes (-110 DraftKings)
