Nationals seek fifth straight win
Aug 5, 2008 - 1:04 PM Washington (42-70) at Colorado (51-63) at 9:05 p.m. EDTDENVER (Ticker) -- The Washington Nationals aim for their first five-game winning streak since September when they continue a four-game series against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday.
Washington banged out 14 hits and took advantage of a pair of defensive miscues en route to a 9-4 victory in Monday's series opener. The Nationals had lost seven straight in Colorado dating to August 2005.
The Nationals' winning streak comes on the heels of their second nine-game losing streak of the season.
John Lannan (6-11, 3.61 ERA) faces the Rockies for the first time in his career. The lefthander is just 4-5 on the road despite an impressive 2.57 ERA.
Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa (5-6, 6.94) looks to bounce back from his shortest start of the season . The lefthander lasted just 1 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs and five hits with four walks in a 12-2 loss to the Florida Marlins on Thursday.
The 27-year old has recorded four of his five wins at home this year, including three in his last four starts.
