Guthrie, O's look to beat streaking Indians
Aug 13, 2008 - 10:10 AM Baltimore (56-62) at Cleveland (54-64) 7:05 p.m. EDTCLEVELAND (Ticker) -- The Baltimore Orioles send their hottest pitcher to the mound to try and cool off the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday.
Jeremy Guthrie (9-8, 3.26), winner of three consecutive starts, takes on a Cleveland lineup that scored 20 runs while taking the first two games of this series.
Cleveland rattled off 13 hits in a 13-8 win on Monday, then followed that performance with a 12-hit barrage in a 7-5 win.
Guthrie will look to play the role of stopper. He has been victorious in six of his last seven decisions and owns a 3.06 ERA on the road.
In each of his last three starts, the righthander has allowed a single earned run, including a complete game, four-hit performance in his last road start at Seattle.
Cleveland starter Anthony Reyes (3-1, 3.86) will look to duplicate his first start with the Indians.
The righthander, who was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals on July 26, threw 6 1/3 solid innings against the Toronto Blue Jays, surrendering one run and seven hits, striking out four.
