Reyes looks for elusive win vs. Cardinals

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- After snapping a season-long six-game losing streak on Saturday, the Atlanta Braves will be in search of consecutive wins for the first time in over two weeks when they take on the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.

The Braves rebounded from an 18-3 thrashing on Friday with an 8-4 victory on Saturday, thanks to seven runs over the last four innings.

Atlanta starter Jo-Jo Reyes (3-9, 5.18) will be looking to snap his own losing streak in the finale.

The 23-year-old lefthander has lost five consecutive decisions, going winless in his last eight starts. In five of those, Reyes has not made it out of the fifth inning.

Last time out, Reyes pitched six innings in his return from Class AAA Richmond, allowing two runs, four hits and three walks, while striking out five without receiving a decision against the New York Mets on August 19. The Braves went on to lose, 7-3.

Atlanta is winless in Reyes' last seven starts.

St. Louis sends Braden Looper (11-10, 3.94), who has been stellar over the last month, to the hill. The righthander has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his last six starts but is 2-3 during that span.

Looper has pitched seven innings in each of his last five starts, including a seven-hit, two-run performance in a 12-3 win in Atlanta on July 28.
