White Sox and Orioles to finish suspended game, start three-game set
Aug 25, 2008 - 1:14 PM Chi White Sox (74-55) at Baltimore (61-68) 7:05 p.m. EDTBALTIMORE (Ticker) -- The Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles will complete a suspended game from an April series in Chicago before opening a three-game series on Monday.
In the finale of a four-game set on April 28, rain forced the game to be postponed until Monday. When the game was stopped, the score was tied at 3-3 after 11 innings.
George Sherrill and Scott Linebrink, both of whom are now on the disabled list, were the pitchers of record when officials pulled the teams from the field.
Upon the conclusion of the suspended game, the first-place White Sox open a nine-game road trip.
Clayton Richard (1-2, 6.75) gets the ball for Chicago, which is one-half game ahead of Minnesota for first place in the American League Central.
Richard struggled in his first three starts, posting a 10.38 ERA, but pitched six shutout innings last time out. He surrendered five hits and a walk in the 5-0 win over the Seattle Mariners.
The White Sox have won nine of their last 12 games.
After working eight scoreless innings against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in his first career start, Chris Waters (2-0, 4.98) did not make it out of the fourth inning in two straight outings before earning a win against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday. The lefthander won despite giving up five runs in five innings.
Baltimore, which has lost five of six, was swept in a three-game series over the weekend by the New York Yankees.
