Astros attempting to maintain dominance of Reds
Aug 26, 2008 - 1:50 PM Cincinnati (57-74) at Houston (66-65), 8:05 pm EDTHOUSTON (Ticker) -- The Houston Astros have not had much trouble with the Cincinnati Reds lately.
The Astros seek their fifth straight victory over the Reds on Tuesday when they host their National League Central foe in the opener of a three-game series.
Houston owns an 8-1 record against Cincinnati this season, winning 12 of its last 13 meetings overall. The Astros swept the Reds in a four-game road series from August 7-10.
Coming off a 9-1 loss to the New York Mets on Monday, Houston will send Wandy Rodriguez (7-6, 4.11 ERA) to the mound. The lefthander has lost each of his previous two starts.
Cincinnati will counter with righthander Bronson Arroyo (11-10, 5.32), who has recorded six wins over his previous nine starts.
Arroyo lasted seven innings during Wednesday's 2-1 triumph over the Chicago Cubs, giving up a run and three hits with five walks and four strikeouts.
The Reds are trying to avoid their third consecutive loss.
