Twins aim for AL Central lead, continue road trip

TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Twins try to end a road trip on a positive note when they visit the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday to open the final series of a season-long 14-game road trip.

While the Blue Jays are playing out the string, the Twins are in a dogfight for the top spot in the the American League Central Division with the Chicago White Sox (77-60).

After twice squandering opportunities to pass the Chicago White Sox with walk-off losses to Oakland this weekend, the Twins salvaged a series split as Alexi Casilla and Justin Morneau homered in a 12-4 win over the Athletics.

Twins starter Glen Perkins (12-3, 3.96 ERA) is looking to win his sixth straight decision. The lefthander has just one loss over the last three months, posting a 10-1 record over that span.

The Blue Jays will counter with lefthander David Purcey (2-5, 5.53), who is hoping to avoid his fifth loss in his last six starts.
