Athletics, Royals postponed due to rain
Sep 3, 2008 - 10:44 PM letics, Royals postponed due to rain* =========================================KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- Wednesday's game between the Oakland Athletics and Kansas City Royals was postponed due to rain.
The game - the second of a three-game series between the two clubs - was slated to begin at 8:10 p.m. EDT. But the contest was called early and rescheduled, with rain hitting the Kansas City metropolitan area and expected to remain until Thursday afternoon.
It was rescheduled as part of a doubleheader at 4:10 p.m. EDT on Thursday afternoon.
Athletics lefthander Dana Eveland (8-8, 4.21 ERA), coming off two straight impressive starts, is expected to face off against Royals righthander Brian Bannister (7-14, 5.75), who has lost eight decisions in a row and has not picked up a victory since June 23.
Oakland's Dan Meyer (0-3, 6.33) will go against Kansas City's Kyle Davies (5-6, 4.76) in the second game.
The Royals won the first game of the series ,5-2, on Tuesday but have lost 19 of their last 24 games.
