Miner, Broadway matchup in doubleheader finale

Sep 13, 2008 - 1:10 PM Detroit at Chicago (2ND GAME)

CHICAGO (Ticker) - With a rainout on Friday shaking up the pitching rotations, the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers will be forced to turn to plan B on Saturday night.

The White Sox will give rookie Lance Broadway a chance in the second game of a doubleheader while the Tigers turn to righthander Zach Miner, who was supposed to go on Sunday.

Broadway (1-0, 8.49 ERA) has made one start this season, allowing two runs and five hits in 5 1/3 innings against Kansas City on August 14. In five overall appearances, the 25-year-old righthander has surrendered 18 hits and 11 runs in 11 2/3 frames.

He went 11-6 with a 4.66 ERA in 24 games at Class AAA Charlotte.

Miner (8-4, 4.29) moved into the rotation on July 21 and posted a 5-1 record with a 2.68 ERA in his first eight starts. But his last two outings have not gone quite as smoothly, as he has yielded 13 runs and 19 hits in 10 1/3 innings.

The 26-year-old Miner is 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA in his last two starts against Chicago.

The game will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first contest.
