Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins

  • Leg 1: Braves -1.5 (–162)
  • Leg 2: Under 7.5 total runs (-118)
  • Leg 3: Bryce Elder under 5.5 strikeouts (-158)

After the sweep of the Mets over the weekend, the Braves are just one win away from back-to-back National League East titles. They’re in a good spot as they swept the Marlins earlier in the month.

Rookie Bryce Elder has been recalled and sent down a couple of times throughout the season, but he’s shined in his last few starts. Two of those have been against the Marlins, and he’s allowed just one earned and struck out 16 in 13 innings versus Miami.

Jesus Luzardo has been solid with a  3.53 ERA, but the main reason the Marlins have lost nine straight of his starts is the lack of run support. The Marlins only averaged 2.5 runs in Luzardo’s 15 starts and scored two or fewer in eight.

The Braves sending up a pitcher who’s had success recently with this opponent puts them in an excellent position to win and take the division.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Houston Astros

  • Leg 1: Astros ML (–122)
  • Leg 2: Over 7.5 (-102)
  • Leg 3: Yordan Alvarez to record 2+ total bases (+120)

The Phillies got a big win on Sunday and need just one more to lock in their playoff berth, but they’ll be facing the No. 1 seed in the American League.

The recent inconsistencies of Aaron Nola are interesting to see. In his four recent starts, he’s had two shutout performances, but in the other two, he’s allowed four runs in each.

Lance McCullers missed most of this season with an arm injury, but since returning in August, he’s been a great addition to this already stellar rotation. He’s coming in 3-0 with a 2.82 ERA and 32 strikeouts in his last four starts.

It’s a tough spot for the Phillies this week, facing the best team in the American League. With the Astros getting a first-round bye, they aren’t inclined to rest players. You have to take Houston in this one.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Milwaukee Brewers

  • Leg 1: Brewers -1.5 (–114)
  • Leg 2: Under  7.5 (-122)
  • Leg 3: Brandon Woodruff under 8.5 strikeouts (-128)

This gives the Brewers a little bit of life as they would need a miracle to get into the playoffs, but facing the Diamondbacks should help.

Brandon Woodruff is coming in today winning four straight starts with a 1.98 ERA. His start in Arizona earlier this month didn’t go well, allowing five earned in the loss, but that was the first time he allowed more than three earned in his last 15 starts. This is likely one hiccup.

It’s been a rough rookie campaign for Tommy Henry. He hasn’t made it out of the sixth inning in six straight starts and is coming in with an 11.77 ERA in his last three.

Take the Brewers today and make the Phillies sweat just a little in the last couple of days.
