Orioles look to end slide vs. Blue Jays
Sep 27, 2008 - 10:14 AM Toronto (85-75) at Baltimore (67-92) 7:05 p.m. EDTBALTIMORE (Ticker) -- After a promising start to the 2008 season, the Baltimore Orioles have suffered through an abysmal second half and will look to end a season-long losing streak when they take on the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.
Baltimore, which sat three games under .500 on August 17, has won six times in its last 29 games and is on a 10-game skid.
Toronto captured a 3-0 victory on Friday behind six stellar innings from Scott Richmond. The rookie captured his first major league victory in the rain-shortened contest, which was called in the top of the seventh after a 65-minute delay.
Brian Bass (3-4, 5.08) makes his third start for the Orioles since joining the rotation on September 11. He has a 5.40 ERA, but has not recorded a decision in any of his previous outings.
The righthander started against the Blue Jays on September 15, allowing five runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Toronto counters with John Parrish (1-0, 4.10), who will be making his first start since August 30. The lefthander won his first start on June 28, but has not earned a decision in his last four starts.
In a July 10 start against Baltimore, Parrish allowed three runs and six hits over seven innings.
He spent his first six seasons with the Orioles organization, going 12-12 in 153 appearances - 10 starts - with a 4.52 ERA.
