White Sox need to snap skid
Sep 28, 2008 - 7:36 AM Cleveland (81-80) at Chi White Sox (86-74), 2:05 p.m. EDTCHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago White Sox are playing some of their worst baseball at the worst imaginable time.
Chicago knows it needs to snap a five-game losing streak when it hosts the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
Despite the two losses to the Indians, the White Sox are still one-half game behind the Minnesota Twins (87-74) in the American League Central. Chicago has a makeup game against the Detroit Tigers scheduled for Monday.
Veteran Mark Buehrle (14-12, 3.87 ERA) will take the mound for Chicago.
The lefthander had a personal three-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday, allowing three runs over seven innings against Minnesota.
Cleveland, which has scored 23 runs over the first two games of the series, will counter with rookie Bryan Bullington (0-1, 5.59). The righthander is filling in for ace Cliff Lee, who was scratched with a stiff neck.
Bullington last pitched out of the bullpen on Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox, throwing five scoreless innings while allowing two hits and striking out six.
