Walden strong as Angels edge Athletics
Feb 26, 2009 - 11:16 PM TEMPE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Rookie Jordan Walden struck out three in two scoreless innings and Reggie Willits drove in a run as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim posted a 3-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics in Cactus League action on Thursday.A 12th-round pick in 2006, Walden allowed two hits and did not walk a batter. Bobby Abreu, who signed a one-year, $5 million deal earlier this month, went 0-for-2.
Alberto Rosario and Kevin Ramos drove in a run apiece for the Angels, who banged out 10 hits.
Jack Cust homered for the Athletics. Oakland starter Sean Gallagher allowed three hits in two scoreless frames, striking out two and walking one.
