Crisp, Gload lead Royals past Rangers

Feb 27, 2009 - 12:59 AM SURPRISE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Newcomer Coco Crisp homered and Ross Gload drove in three runs to lead the Kansas City Royals to a 7-2 win over the Texas Rangers on Thursday.

Crisp, who was acquired in a trade with the Boston Red Sox over the winter, hit a solo blast in the third inning and added a single in three at-bats.

Gload broke open a 4-2 game in the seventh with a bases-loaded triple off lefthander Eddie Guardado and John Buck added a solo blast for the Royals.

Kevin Millwood pitched a pair of scoreless innings, striking out three and allowing one hit, before yielding to prospect Derek Holland, who allowed both home runs in the third.

Josh Hamilton hit his second homer of the spring for the Rangers.
