Uehara sharp, but Orioles fall to Marlins

Feb 27, 2009 - 9:56 PM JUPITER, Florida (Ticker) -- Koji Uehara pitched two scoreless innings for the Baltimore Orioles on Friday, but it was not enough as the Florida Marlins posted a 3-2 victory.

In his Grapefruit League debut, Baltimore's first Japanese player tossed two shutout innings, striking out three while giving up just one hit.

Former Marlins lefthander Mark Hendrickson allowed three runs - one earned - in an inning of relief.

Dallas McPherson and Jorge Cantu had RBI singles in a Florida's three-run third inning. The Marlins strung together four straight singles and were aided by two errors.

John Baker and Cody Ross each added two hits.

Held scoreless until the sixth inning, Baltimore got on the board when rookie catcher Matt Wieters doubled, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Chris Gomez's RBI groundout.
