Cabrera, Inge homer to lead Tigers past Mets

Feb 28, 2009 - 9:13 PM LAKELAND, Florida (Ticker) -- Brandon Inge and Miguel Cabrera homered to power the Detroit Tigers to a 7-2 victory over the New York Mets in Grapefruit League play on Saturday.

Inge hit a solo home run off of Jonathon Niese in the second inning. Cabrera reached Brian Stokes for a solo blast in the seventh.

Cabrera added an RBI single that highlighted a three-run fifth inning.

Niese, who is fighting for a spot in the New York rotation, struggled in his first start of the spring, giving up two runs, two hits and two walks in two innings.

Angel Pagan went 2-for-4 with a run scored to pace New York's offense.
