Pavano perfect in debut for Indians
Feb 28, 2009 - 10:41 PM PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Carl Pavano pitched two perfect innings in his spring debut as the Cleveland Indians fell to the Oakland Athletics, 1-0, in Cactus League action on Saturday.Pavano landed in Cleveland after four uneventful years with the New York Yankees.
After signing a four-year, $40 million contract in 2004, Pavano had a disastrous stint in New York. Pavano started 26 games in four seasons, compiling a 9-8 record with a 5.10 ERA.
Ryan Sweeney delivered the only run of the game, an RBI double in the seventh inning.
The teams combined for six total hits.
