Brewers answer Rangers' rally to come out on top

Mar 1, 2009 - 12:43 AM PHOENIX (Ticker) -- After surrendering a three-run lead Saturday, the Milwaukee Brewers made up for it with a two-run seventh inning to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in Cactus League action.

The Angels overcame a 3-0 deficit with a pair of RBI singles by Chris Pettit and Ryan Mount, followed by Matthew Brown's game-tying RBI double in the seventh. But the Brewers got those runs right back a half-inning later.

Brent Brewer put them back on top with a solo blast in his first at-bat of the spring. Milwaukee wasn't done. All-Star Ryan Braun ripped a double to left field and scored on Scott Thorman's run-scoring double one batter later.

That was more than enough damage for the Brewers, as Nick Green tossed two scoreless innings to preserve the victory. Braun and Prince Fielder each had two hits and drove in a run.

Pettit went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Angels, who lost for the first time this spring.
