James tries to rebound, help Braves force split

Sep 24, 2006 - 3:28 PM Atlanta (75-80) at Colorado (73-82) 3:05 pm EDT

DENVER (Ticker) -- Rookie Chuck James had a rough outing his last time out. He's not looking to repeat that performance.

James and the Atlanta Braves face the Colorado Rockies in the finale of a four-game series Sunday.

Due to a 9-2 setback against Washington on Tuesday, James (10-4, 3.62 ERA) had a streak of six consecutive winning decisions ended. Despite striking out seven, the lefthander was reached for five runs, five hits and a season-high six walks in 4 1/3 innings.

This will be James' first career start against the Rockies, who will counter with rookie Juan Morillo (NR).

The Dominican righthander will be making his major league debut. He posted a 12-8 record with a 4.62 ERA while pitching for Class AA Tulsa.

Following a setback in the opener, Colorado won the next two contests, including a 10-9 triumph Saturday. Matt Holliday homered and Troy Tulowitzki drove in two runs.

Andruw Jones recorded his fifth multi-homer game of the season, finishing 4-for-4 in the Braves' loss.
