Brand leads Sixers in rout of Kings

Jan 11, 2012 - 3:30 AM Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Elton Brand scored a season-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Philadelphia 76ers won their sixth straight game by routing the Sacramento Kings, 112-85.

Jrue Holiday added 17 points, eight assists, six rebounds and four steals while Evan Turner had 16 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists for Philadelphia, which has outscored its opponents by 131 points during its winning streak. The Sixers haven't won six in a row since a seven-game run from Jan. 6-17, 2009.

"Great job of our guys taking care of the home court. You are always concerned when you have a ton of home games. Sometimes you get home and see a little slippage because you get comfortable. I thought our guys were incredibly professional in the way they handled it," 76ers head coach Doug Collins said of his team, who are in the midst of playing 18-of-22 games at home after they began the season with five consecutive road games.

DeMarcus Cousins had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Kings, who have lost four of five. They shot just 39.5 percent from the floor and a putrid 4-of-19 from beyond the arc.

The Sixers shot 60 percent in the first quarter and took a 26-22 advantage into the second. The depth of Philadelphia continued to pay huge dividends as its bench outscored Sacramento, 16-0, in the opening period. Thaddeus Young and Turner poured in six points apiece off the bench.

"That's where the game changes," Sacramento head coach Keith Smart said of the 76ers bench. "You can stay close with their first unit but their bench comes in and plays and has a huge lift. Thaddeus gives you problems no matter what. Their bench is going to be their strength."

Philadelphia slowly began to pull away in the second stanza, leading by as many as 14 before taking a 52-42 lead into the break. Brand paced the Sixers with 11 points and seven rebounds in the first half.

The Sixers scored the first 11 points of the third quarter as Jodie Meeks capped the surge with a three-pointer from the left wing to give Philadelphia a 63-42 advantage.

Brand and Meeks netted 10 points apiece in the third stanza and Philadelphia led 84-60 after three.

Philadelphia led by as many as 34 points in the final quarter before cruising the rest of the way.
