Bulls hold Hawks to 58 points in win
Jan 15, 2013 - 6:27 AM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Carlos Boozer recorded a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds on Monday, as the Chicago Bulls stifled the Atlanta Hawks in a 97-58 victory at United Center.Luol Deng donated 18 points, while Joakim Noah added nine points and 16 boards for the Bulls, who have won two of three and set a franchise record for fewest points allowed.
"We were ready for this one," Noah remarked. "We had the right mindset, played with the edge and we rebounded the ball really well. Everyone came in and stepped up."
Mike Scott scored a team-high 10 points for Atlanta, which was held to a franchise-record low five points in the second quarter en route to their sixth loss in their last seven games.
"This was very, very embarrassing," Atlanta coach Larry Drew admitted. "It's time to shake things up. There will be changes."
Atlanta led 13-12 with 6:37 left in the first after Kyle Korver knocked down 2-of-3 at the free throw line, but the Hawks went the next 10 minutes without a field goal, allowing the Bulls to build an insurmountable advantage.
Chicago closed the first quarter on a 14-2 run to grab an 11-point lead before Atlanta went the first six-plus minutes of the second without scoring.
The Bulls pushed their edge to 36-15 just past the midpoint of the frame before Al Horford finally quelled the drought with a tip-in at the 5:15 mark.
The Hawks, though, managed just one more field goal in the frame and the Bulls carried a 48-20 advantage into the break.
Atlanta never threatened in the second half, as the Bulls built their lead to 71-37 after three frames before cruising to victory over the final 12 minutes.
