Lee leads Warriors past Nets

Dec 8, 2012 - 4:52 AM Brooklyn, NY (Sports Network) - David Lee scored 13 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter, and the Golden State Warriors shut down the Brooklyn Nets in the second half to come away with a 109-102 victory at Barclays Center.

Lee also pulled down 15 rebounds -- seven on the offensive glass -- while Stephen Curry netted 28 points for the Warriors, who have won the first two tests on their seven-game road trip and five of six overall.

Warriors head coach and Brooklyn-born Mark Jackson, who also spent time as a television analyst for the Nets, watched his team hold the Nets to 34-percent shooting in the second half after being down by eight at halftime.

Joe Johnson finished with 32 points to lead New Jersey, with Andray Blatche chipping in 22 points and 15 rebounds. Deron Williams added 23 points and eight assists in the Nets' third straight setback.

Without center Brook Lopez for the fourth consecutive game, the Nets gave up 50 points in the paint and 18 second-chance points.

"We're definitely missing him," Williams said of Lopez, who is sidelined with a foot injury. "He's a big part of our team. Hopefully he'll be back soon."

Midway through the fourth quarter, Lee cleaned up a Curry miss to cap a 9-0 run that gave the Warriors a 95-89 lead. Lee added another putback a little later, and his three-point play made it 103-96 with under three minutes left.

"I was just trying to hit the offensive glass," Lee said. "All my focus was on offensive rebounding and trying to be aggressive on the glass and let the scoring take care of itself."

Following two straight Nets' turnovers, Lee was blocked by Gerald Wallace on the left block, but Draymond Green caught the carom and laid in an easy deuce for a nine-point edge with 1:43 to play.

A pair of Blatche field goals cut the deficit to 105-100 in the final minute, but Green found Lee for an uncontested dunk at the other end to all but seal the outcome.

Johnson missed just one of his seven shots in the first quarter, and his 15 points helped the Nets jump out to a 31-24 lead.

Jerry Stackhouse and Johnson each hit from long range on Brooklyn's first two possessions in the second to push the lead to 13, but Golden State's bench, sparked by Jarrett Jack and Carl Landry, quickly erased the deficit.

Klay Thompson's 3-pointer had the Warriors in front, 55-52, though the Nets scored 11 unanswered points in the final 2:05, with Blatche's buzzer-beating trifecta resulting in a 63-55 halftime lead.

The Warriors answered again in the third, mostly behind Curry, with three of his 13 points in the frame coming from a deep make that ended a 9-2 run and tied things at 70 midway through.

Jack's late jumper gave Golden State an 84-82 cushion heading to the fourth.
