Gallinari helps Nuggets outlast Warriors in 2-OT

Nov 11, 2012 - 7:59 AM Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Danilo Gallinari started slow, but caught fire in the second half and overtime.

Gallinari netted all 21 of his points over the final 34 minutes, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 35.9 seconds left in double overtime, in the Denver Nuggets' 107-101 win over the Golden State Warriors.

Gallinari went 0-for-9 from the floor in the opening half, but finished the contest 8-of-13 for Denver, which concluded the game on an 11-0 run.

"Tonight proved that we can win when it gets tough," Nuggets guard Corey Brewer said. "Four in a row is big for us."

Kenneth Faried tallied 18 points and 17 rebounds in the win.

Klay Thompson had 23 points and Carl Landry added 22 off the bench for the Warriors, who have lost three of their last four contests.

"Last year we were not good enough talent wise to win a lot of ball games," Golden State head coach Mark Jackson. "We're good enough right now and we got outworked."

Thompson's triple from the corner gave the home team a 101-96 advantage midway through the second extra session, but the Nuggets stormed back.

After Andre Miller split a pair from the foul line, back-to-back 3-pointers by Andre Iguodala and Gallinari gave Denver a 103-101 lead.

Thompson missed a three at the other end and Iguodala nailed two free throws before Curry's layup didn't fall on Golden State's next trip down the floor. Gallinari then hit a pair from the charity stripe to account for the final margin.

The Nuggets jumped out to a 24-13 advantage after a quarter of play before Golden State outscored Denver, 26-16, in the second to whittle the deficit down to 40-39 heading into the break.

Denver took a 62-59 advantage into the fourth.

The Warriors led 76-71 midway through the final frame of regulation before Denver ripped off eight straight to take a 79-76 edge.

A bit later, Faried's layup gave the visitors an 86-82 margin, but Landry's putback and Jarrett Jack's driving layup with 28.8 left in the period sent the game into an extra session.

Curry's pullup with 47.8 seconds to go in the first overtime gave the home team a 94-92 lead, but Gallinari's driving dunk with 2.1 ticks in the period extended the game by another five minutes.

Game Notes

Denver shot 38.1 percent from the floor (43-of-113), while Golden State finished 38.2 percent from the field (39-of-102) ... The Nuggets outrebounded the Warriors, 65-54.
