Hawes leads Sixers past Magic

Feb 5, 2013 - 2:48 AM Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Spencer Hawes had 21 points and 14 rebounds in the Philadelphia 76ers' 78-61 win over the Orlando Magic.

Jrue Holiday added 13 points and 14 assists for the Sixers, who have gone 4-1 so far on their eight-game homestand.

The 61 points allowed was a season low and set a new Wells Fargo Center mark.

Sixers forward Thaddeus Young left the game in the middle of the second quarter with a strained left hamstring when he was attempting to steal a rebound from Magic forward Gustavo Ayon. Young did not return.

"Thad pulled a hamstring, he's going to be out a while," Philadelphia head coach Doug Collins said.

E'Twaun Moore netted 18 points to lead Orlando, which tied a season-high with its 10th straight loss.

The Magic had six players out, notably leading scorer Arron Afflalo (strained left calf), guards Jameer Nelson (bruised left forearm) and J.J. Redick (sore right shoulder) and forward Glen Davis.

"Overall, it was a really good effort, I give credit to the character of the guys who suited up," Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn said.

Orlando shot just 33.8 percent (27-of-80) from the floor.

The Magic trailed 42-35 at the break and pulled within three after beginning the third on a 7-2 flurry, but the Sixers countered with a 14-1 run to seize control of the contest.

Hawes had seven points during the surge, which was capped on Arnett Moultrie's jumper to make it 58-42 in favor of Philadelphia late in the frame before the home team took a 60-46 lead into the final period.

The margin reached its apex at 20 in the fourth.

Philly opened up a 22-6 advantage in the opening stanza and led 28-16 after a quarter of play.
