Rockets pin another loss on disappointing Nets
Nov 30, 2013 - 4:31 AM Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Chandler Parsons shot a perfect 7-of-7 from the floor and made a season-high six 3-pointers as the Houston Rockets rolled past the Brooklyn Nets, 114-95.The Rockets jumped out to a 25-8 lead nine minutes into the contest and were never threatened by the slumping Nets, who have dropped two in a row and seven of eight.
Parsons led six Rockets in double figures with 21 points. Omri Casspi and Aaron Brooks tallied 16 and 14 points, respectively, off the bench, while Francisco Garcia went 5-of-7 from 3-point range for 15 points.
James Harden and Brooks handed out seven assists apiece. Harden returned after missing three games due to a foot injury.
"Hopefully, that foot feels as good tomorrow as it did today," Rockets coach Kevin McHale said. "We'll let him just try to work his way back and get a little longer minutes. Hopefully, this is behind him now."
Brooklyn welcomed back center Brook Lopez, who missed the previous seven games with an ankle injury, but were once again without ailing point guard Deron Williams and Kevin Garnett, who missed the contest to rest. Lopez and Miles Plumlee each deposited 16 points in the setback, while Tyshawn Taylor had 16 points with a personal-best 12 assists.
Mirza Teletovic scored a career-high for the second straight tilt, dropping in 18 points for the Nets.
"We have to figure out what the problem is with that starting group," Nets coach Jason Kidd said. "Fatigue is the only thing I can think of. It's an 82 game season and we're getting some healthy bodies back slowly and we just have to stay together."
Terrence Jones scored the first six points of the game for Houston, which never trailed. Dwight Howard's tip-in capped a 13-0 surge that spanned more than four minutes for a 25-8 advantage.
The lead grew to as many as 19 points in the first quarter. Houston had it at 50-34 late in the half but a 16-6 run had the hosts in front by a whopping 66-40 margin at the break.
