Dec 30, 2013 - 6:17 AM Orlando, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Arron Afflalo had 21 points and seven assists to help the Orlando Magic to a 109-102 win over the Atlanta Hawks from Amway Center.Tobias Harris tallied 17 points, while Nikola Vucevic and Glen Davis each scored 16 points with Vucevic adding 14 rebounds in the win.
Victor Oladipo scored 15 points with eight assists off the bench for Orlando, which has beaten Atlanta in two straight following 11 consecutive losses to the Hawks.
"Tobias played really well for us and Moe Harkless did a great job for us off the bench," said Oladipo. "Weapons everywhere, we just have to continue to build on it."
Jeff Teague paced Atlanta with 22 points to go along with eight assists, while Paul Millsap added 17 points and seven rebounds.
Lou Williams had 18 points on just 4-of-11 shooting from distance.
"It's an adjustment period for us," said Teague. "We're going to go through it. Tonight was definitely a test for us getting into the lane, but we were making shots early."
Dennis Schroder hit a three-point play to tie the game at 79 to open the fourth and then followed with 1-of-2 at the stripe to give the Hawks their first lead since the opening minute.
Afflalo quickly answered with a deep two to regain the lead and Harris knocked down a 3 to increase the margin to four, 84-80.
The Hawks regained the advantage again when Shelvin Mack made a driving layup for an 85-84 lead. Orlando, however, answered with an 11-2 surge that Afflalo capped with a driving layup at the 4:24 mark.
Oladipo would put the game away with just over two minutes left as he buried a 3 from the wing to make the score 103-93 in favor of the hosts.
A Teague 3-pointer to open game was the only lead for Hawks until early in the fourth as the Magic led 26-20 after one quarter of play.
Kyle Korver knocked down a three to cut the first quarter deficit in half, 30-27, to extend his record to 100 straight games with a triple.
Later in the second, Harris and Afflalo hit back-to-back shots to extend the Magic cushion, 42-32, at the 6:27 mark.
The margin reached as much as 12 in the second and the Magic led by 11 after a Vucevic jumper with just over a minute left. Pero Antic and Williams hit 3s on successive possessions to make it a 54-49 game with 24.3 seconds left, but Oladipo knocked down a pair at the line to give the Magic a 56-49 lead at the break.
The Magic built their lead back to double digits after a layup from Oladipo at the 5:06 mark of the third, but Mack delivered a 3 at the buzzer to cut the Hawks' deficit, 79-76, heading into the fourth.
Game Notes
Hawks' forwards DeMarre Carroll (sprained right thumb) and Al Horford (torn right pectoral muscle) did not travel to Orlando ... Orlando shot 41-of-74 (55.4 percent) from the field compared to 36-of-81 (44.4 percent) for Atlanta ... The Magic had a slight edge with a 40-36 rebound margin ... Jameer Nelson had 10 points and eight assists, while Maurice Harkless scored 11 points off the bench for Orlando.
