Durant does it all as Thunder down Sixers
Jan 26, 2014 - 5:53 AM Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Durant glided effortlessly down the court and used the hesitation stutter dribble to blow past Philadelphia's Thaddeus Young before rising for an easy dunk for his 30th point late in the third quarter. It was another efficient evening for the sizzling Durant, who did more than just score on Saturday night.
Durant became the sixth player since 1990 to score 30-or-more points in 10 straight games and recorded his fifth career triple-double in the Oklahoma City Thunder's 103-91 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.
A day after sitting out to rest a shoulder injury, Durant tallied 32 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists for Oklahoma City, which has won seven straight games. Durant was 12-of-17 from the field and sank all seven of his free throws.
"I hate sitting out, but it was best for me and my shoulder. I guess that day off was needed," Durant said.
He is averaging 38.7 points on 59.6 percent shooting over his last seven games.
Serge Ibaka added 25 points and 11 boards on 12-of-16 efficiency in the triumph.
Young finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight steals for the Sixers, who have dropped nine consecutive tilts to OKC.
"I thought we did a pretty good job on him (Durant). He's so long and scores in just a variety of ways," Sixers head coach Brett Brown said.
Durant netted seven points in the opening stanza on just five shots, while Ibaka made six of his seven shots for a 12-point first quarter, but the game was tied after one.
Durant, though, scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting in the second as OKC headed into the break with a 53-44 cushion after outscoring Philly 27-18 in the period.
James Anderson capped a 9-0 Sixers spurt to whittle the deficit to 69-65 a little past the midway point of the third.
The Thunder responded, though, as Durant's slam in transition concluded a 10-4 run to extend their lead back to double figures, 79-69. OKC had an 83-71 advantage after three and led comfortably throughout the fourth.
