Raptors down Wizards in return to action

Feb 19, 2014 - 4:39 AM Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Lowry had 24 points and 10 assists in the Toronto Raptors' 103-93 victory over the Washington Wizards.

DeMar DeRozan, Amir Johnson and Greivis Vasquez each added 14 points for the Raptors, who have won three in a row. Jonas Valanciunas and Patrick Patterson tallied 10 points apiece.

John Wall, who was named Dunker of the Night in Saturday's slam dunk contest, ended with 22 points, seven assists and three steals for the Wizards, who have dropped three straight. Marcin Gortat and Nene donated 18 and 17 points, respectively, with Gortat pulling down 11 rebounds.

"I was just taking what they were giving me. I found my teammates open," said Wizards guard Bradley Beal, who had nine points on 2-of-10 shooting. "We just didn't make shots and that's all it was. Did I have a few? Maybe. But I'm the one who's taking them and feeling comfortable and I didn't feel comfortable taking them."

The game was tied 27-27 following a first quarter that featured two lead changes and seven ties.

The Raptors started the second stanza on an 11-4 run. Vasquez tallied four points during the surge, including a floater with 7:27 left to make it 38-31.

Toronto led by as many as eight before taking a 55-49 edge into the locker room.

The Wizards got within two early in the third period, but the Raptors took control with a 21-6 run. Lowry scored 12 points during the burst, including a 3-pointer with 2:41 remaining to make it 78-61.

"He took the game over in the middle of the third quarter and willed us to a win," said Raptors coach Dwane Casey of Lowry.

Toronto took an 84-70 margin into the fourth, where they led by as many as 20.

The Raptors improved to 3-0 against the Wizards this season ... Washington coach Randy Wittman was ejected with 4:39 left in the fourth quarter ... Trevor Booker had 10 points for the Wizards ... Toronto shot 56.8 percent from the field ... Johnson returned to the lineup after missing the final two games before the All-Star break with an ankle injury.
