Randolph, Gasol lead Grizzlies past Lakers

Nov 16, 2013 - 6:28 AM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Zach Randolph had 14 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter and the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, 89-86, on Friday night.

Randolph also snatched 11 rebounds, while Marc Gasol added 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for the Grizzlies, who had lost three of their last four games coming in.

"I tried to be aggressive and let it come to me and pick my spots. When it comes to me I'll be ready," Randolph said.

Memphis was just 1-of-13 from beyond the arc, but outrebounded the hosts, 51-40.

Jodie Meeks netted 25 points to lead Los Angeles, which has dropped four of its last five tilts.

The Lakers held an 81-79 lead with 4:13 left after Nick Young nailed a jumper, but back-to-back tough jumpers from Randolph gave Memphis an 83-81 edge. Randolph then hit Gasol, who flashed in the key, and he flipped in the short hook for an 85-81 margin with 2:06 to play.

Meeks nailed a triple with 1:20 to whittle the gap 85-84 before Randolph was back at it again.

He drove in for a finger roll with 16.4 ticks left and after Steve Blake missed a potentially game-tying 3-pointer, Randolph sunk two foul shots to put the game away.

"Zach (Randolph) made some terrific shots, he's a load," Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni said.

The Grizzlies took a 24-17 lead after a quarter of play, but the Lakers rallied in the second to knot the tilt at 40-40.

LA led 66-63 after three.
