Parker, Spurs best Grizzlies

Nov 23, 2013 - 5:06 AM Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Tony Parker had 20 points and five assists as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Memphis Grizzlies, 102-86, on Friday night.

Tiago Splitter added 17 points and seven rebounds for the Spurs, who have won nine straight games. Manu Ginobili netted 15 points to go with seven assists and five rebounds in the triumph.

Mike Conley tallied 28 points and four steals, while Zach Randolph registered 16 points and 10 boards for Memphis, which had its four-game winning streak snapped.

Marc Gasol left early in the second quarter with an apparent left knee injury in a non-contact situation.

After Tony Allen's jumper helped the Grizzlies overcome a nine point fourth- quarter hole and pulled Memphis within 79-78 midway through the frame, the Spurs answered with an 8-0 spurt to help them seize control of the contest.

Parker netted the first six points of the flurry before Tim Duncan got a friendly roll on a right elbow jumper for an 87-78 San Antonio cushion with 4:37 to go.

"They made a run like we expected them to. This is the NBA. That's how it works," said Duncan. "We kept our composure and made some plays at the right time."

Memphis never threatened again.

"It wasn't a lack of defense. It was more so that they were making plays," said Conley. "They made some big-time plays down the stretch."

San Antonio took a 26-21 advantage after a quarter of play and a 9-2 swing early in the second helped it build a 34-25 edge.

The Spurs led 51-37 at the break and 71-65 after three.
