Randolph, Grizzlies down Jazz

Dec 24, 2013 - 5:11 AM Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Zach Randolph registered his 16th double- double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds to help lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 104-92 win over the Utah Jazz at FedEx Forum on Monday.

Memphis' bench was key for the Grizzlies as they outscored Utah's reserves 51-18. Jerryd Bayless tallied 17 points, while Mike Miller scored 15 and Jon Leuer added 11 for Memphis, which won back-to-back games for the first time since mid-November.

"It feels good," Randolph said of the team notching consecutive wins. "We're getting better. We've been struggling, but I think we should just come out and play hard, and let everything else take care of itself."

Trey Burke and Richard Jefferson each had 18 points. Gordon Hayward added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Jazz, who closed out a five-game road trip with a 2-3 record.

"I think we did pretty well [on the road]," Burke said of the team's recent road swing. "We were 2-3. A lot of people didn't even expect that out of us."

Randolph scored 10 of his 22 points in the first quarter and the Grizzlies closed out the quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 27-21 lead after the first 12 minutes.

Mike Conley stole the ball from Alec Burks at the 7:24 mark of the second and Tony Allen led the fast break before dishing it to Leuer, who threw it down and pushed Memphis' lead to 10. The visitors crawled back into it being down 53-48 at the break.

The home team extended the edge to double digits when Kosta Koufos dunked the ball at the 8:28 mark. John Lucas III nailed two 3s in the final two minutes of the third stanza to cut the deficit to 77-71 leading into the final frame.

Bayless scored eight of his 17 points in the first 3 1/2 minutes of the fourth quarter to give the Grizzlies a 14-point cushion. The Jazz got within 10 with 2:13 left, but that's as close as they would come.
