Blatche, Wizards hold off Mavericks

Oct 14, 2007 - 2:10 AM FAIRFAX, Virginia (Ticker)-- Andray Blatche had 12 points and 10 rebounds to help the Washington Wizards hold on for a 90-86 preseason victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night.

Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood and rookie Nick Young all scored 10 points for Washington, which shot 36 percent (30-of-82) from the field and forced 21 turnovers.

Wizards All-Star Gilbert Arenas was lackluster in his second game back after having season-ending knee surgery, netting six points on 1-of-8 shooting. Arenas finished third in the league in scoring at 28.5 points last season.

Maurice Ager led the way for the Mavericks with 19 points off the bench. The second-year guard is looking to find more playing time after appearing in just 32 games last campaign.

Dallas played without reigning MVP Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Terry and standout sixth man Jerry Stackhouse.

Brandon Bass collected 10 and nine rebounds and Josh Howard also poured in 10 for Dallas, which is trying to forget last seasons surprising first-round exit in the playoffs.
