Bryant, Gasol help Lakers top Kings

Oct 13, 2008 - 4:06 AM LAS VEGAS (Ticker) -- Kobe Bryant scored nine points in 25 minutes and Pau Gasol chipped in 12 points and six rebounds in limited work as the Los Angeles Lakers edged the Sacramento Kings, 94-89, in a preseason contest on Sunday.

Andrew Bynum, who is recovering from knee surgery, added nine points and five rebounds in 22 minutes for the Lakers, who shot 46 percent (36-for-78) from the floor.

Both Bryant and Gasol sat out the fourth quarter as younger players battled for the final spots on Los Angeles' roster. Coby Karl scored five points on 2-of-7 shooting and Joe Crawford finished with six points on 2-of-4 from the floor.

Lamar Odom, who has been a starter for the team in the past, came off the bench and scored four points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out three assists in 22 minutes.

John Salmons was the top scorer for the Kings, pouring in 11 points in a team-high 27 minutes.

Sacramento shot just 37 percent (32-for-86) from the field, including 5-for-22 from the arc.
